I am a strategic communications executive, international author, speaker and media commentator helping organisations build strategic advantage by harnessing the network impacts of owned, earned and social media to build visibility, influence and trust.
I have worked as a strategic communications advisor for over 30 years, leading organisations through high-impact communications and stakeholder, government and crisis relations issues.
I have extensive experience leading communications for complex, high stakes infrastructure projects, with overarching responsibility for multiple, concurrent infrastructure projects characterised by conflicting stakeholder agendas and wide-ranging funding models.
My strategic approach is to create authoritative, evidence-led communications that build a positive legacy, vision and community; while addressing narratives that emerge during project lifecycles with consistent, information-rich, expert content.
I wrote the pioneering The Social Executive (Wiley) on the impact of online networks to help leaders navigate owned, earned and social media to build strategic advantage online. My work appears in Forbes, Company Director, Smart Company, Women’s Agenda and the Firebrand blog.
I was formerly Director Corporate Affairs at Vic Roads, a member of the Corporate Executive Group, representing my organisation at the Cabinet and Ministerial level. I have a deep understanding of government and played a leading role in developing Gov 2.0 in Victoria.
My qualifications include an undergraduate, post graduate and Masters degree in communications; basic, intermediate, advanced and crisis media training. I am a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Cranlana Leadership Program.
